Today we pay a well-deserved tribute to the sister republic of India, to all its people and to the glorious figure of Mahatma Gandhi, who led the unusual epic that culminated in national independence on August 15, 1947.
India is a large, generous, and hospitable country, where numerous refugees from around the world have found a home.
The thought of Mahatma Gandhi is a heroic and sublime light that never goes out.
Born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (October 2, 1869, British India - January 30, 1948, New Delhi), he was an Indian politician, philosopher, and lawyer honored by the people with the title of Mahatma, which means great soul.
The doctrine of Ahimsa is wonderful and means nonviolence.
This principle is especially applied to political and social struggles, because violence unleashes more violence.
Ahimsa does not mean renouncing other forms of struggle such as civil disobedience, general strikes, or trade boycotts.
Gandhi led the Indian independence movement, which finally succeeded in freeing the country from British colonial rule on August 15, 1947.
However, there is no doubt that achieving independence and the current development of this great country required the intelligent work of numerous leaders and an entire mystical, peaceful, and generous people.
India's independence was achieved through revolutions that began in 1857 and culminated under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, between 1942 and 1947.
During World War II, the National Army invaded British India under the leadership of Subbash Chandra Bose.
However, the main independence movement was channeled through the National Congress Party, which followed Gandhi's preaching of nonviolent protest and civil disobedience.
Between 1942 and 1947, the Indian Independence Movement reached its greatest strength with universal recognition of Gandhi's leadership, which prevented a bloody war.
October 2nd marks the birthday of the Hindu leader and also World Day of Non-Violence, in recognition of the work of Mahatma Gandhi.
